About Me

Born in Banyumas on 13 January 1962, Suswatiningsih, known to family and friends as Nining, began her creative journey with a childhood love of painting.

Over the years, that passion found a new language through photography. An art form she often describes as “painting with light.”

​

After graduating from the Faculty of Economics at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman in 1985, Nining built a professional career as a systems analyst at PT Garuda Indonesia. Yet her artistic curiosity never faded. It remained quietly present, waiting for the right moment to be rediscovered.

That moment came in 2012, when she began studying photography at the Darwis Triadi School of Photography. From there, she continued to grow through independent learning, constant practice, and active involvement in photography communities, exhibitions, salons, and events.

Inspired by Indonesia’s vast archipelago, diverse people, and rich cultural heritage, Nining approaches photography as a form of visual storytelling. She is drawn not only to beauty, but also to the emotions, memories, and untold stories held within each face, place, and passing moment.

Her photographs have been featured in numerous national and international photography salons and competitions. Along the way, her work has received several distinctions, including a Gold Medal at an international photography salon.
 

Through her lens, Nining invites viewers to see Indonesia beyond its landscapes. Her photographs reveal a living mosaic of culture, identity, memory, and human connection, woven together through light.

 

 For her, every photograph is more than an image.It is a meeting between light and life, a quiet story preserved before the moment slips away.
